Many woodland creatures live among us and our campers here at Little Arrow Outdoor Resort, and everyone gets along famously. There is one very large forest friend, however, who holds a particular place in our hearts: Bigfoot. Yes, it wasn’t long after we opened our cozy campground that we spotted Bigfoot peeking from behind the trees to see what we were up to. Eventually, when he realized we loved this special area as much as he did, it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship!
Legend has it that Bigfoot is a reclusive and private creature. While he is indeed a deep thinker, we’ve discovered that he’s also quite the social butterfly! Some days you might find him roaming the campground, greeting our visitors old and young. His height may be intimidating, but his heart is huge. And he keeps us all in check, reminding us of proper camping etiquette and making sure we’re good stewards of our scenic mountain surroundings.
We aren’t the only ones who are Bigfoot fans. In fact, the City of Townsend is hosting the very first Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival on May 22nd, and Little Arrow Outdoor Resort is a proud sponsor!
The event, co-hosted by the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center and the Townsend Visitor Center, starts with a ticketed 5k at 9 a.m., followed by a 1-mile fun run. The festivities continue at noon with Bigfoot storytelling and exhibits, blacksmithing demonstrations, a chainsaw carving competition, Sasquatch calling, and live music, topped off by the unforgettable wedding of Bigfoot and Sassy Squatch! Come toast the happy couple while experiencing a family-friendly day of learning, food, and fun. See you soon!
